Our Shepard (GUS) has a wheat allergy so I've been doing some
experimenting with rice and peanut butter.  I came up with a pb
dog treat that both Gus and Jack like thats good for them as well.
The recipe is real easy (and cheap to make) it just takes a little
time.  It is as follows.

4 cups cooked rice (still hot)
about a cup of peanut butter
2 Tablespoons Baking Powder.

I put 2 cups rice and 1/2cup pb along with 1 TBSP baking powder in
a food processor and let that whirl around till smooth.  Then
spread that on a cookie sheet. You can do this by hand as the pb is
greasy and it does not stick to your hand.  I put a piece of
parchment underneath, but I don't think you would have to. I do it
because my cookie sheets are kinda rough.  Once that is spread
out i take a knife and run it across the dough to make the size of
treats you want.  The lines help break the treats into pieces after
they are baked.  Make another batch of dough with the rest and
put that on another tray just like the first batch.  I do 2 trays at a
time since the oven is on anyway might as well use the space.
Bake for about 40 minutes at 300 degrees then turn heat down to
250 degrees and bake for about 2 1/2 hours. I rotate the trays every
so often to keep them baking at the same rate.  They should be
hard and dry by this time.  If not continue baking.
